After I returned from France I got a lot of calls and questions from my teammates and clients about the trip so I decided to write a post about it and let you see these beautiful two days by my eyes :-).
Let me start by saying that this trip to me was very special for many reasons. First of all, me and Virginie were working together for 2 years already, but it was the first time we actually met in person and had an opportunity to work literary together in the same studio. You can imagine how excited both of us were! I must say that this meeting showed that we are not just creative soulmates, in all other life aspects we are so alike, that sometimes we did not need to speak to each other – a look was enough to understand. Virginie and her family made me feel at home. Even if we did not speak the same language with kids, I did not feel a first time guest but a family member. I am so thankful to all of them for the outstanding hospitality.
And it was my first time inside the photo studio during photo sessions going on. I adore and admire photographers work and LOVE to create the accessories for the photography sessions, so I was very curious to see the work process and to learn better about my clients daily life. I need to admit that my admiration got even bigger because I realized really how much work and effort is behind every single image, every capture, every story told by it. And it is not just the lights, the setting, the camera and lenses… To get the eyes smiling on the picture you have to put all your soul in this shot.
The Christmas Minis are also particularly difficult sessions because you have 30 minutes to bond with the child and the family, to conquer their hearts and get the work done. These two days we were working with babies and children of all ages- from 4 months to 12 years old, with families who had one, two or three kids – all of different ages. Some of them were coming to studio for the first time, some clients knew Virginie for years. And this is also very amazing, as like for example on the picture below: the girl that Virginie was taking picture of is also the newborn baby on the art print displayed on the background.
Some families she met by taking photos on their wedding, then maternity, then when baby was born and like this she was part of their family life for years, sharing their special moments and making them still…
The atmosphere in the studio was fantastic. I speak just few words of French and was expecting some difficulties in communication. But believe me, I did not feel speaking another language. The smiles, gestures, words mix in French, English, Italian, and just the general atmosphere of happiness and this genuine Christmas spirit of warmth and love that Virginie managed to create there, was all we needed to understand each other fully.
Working online you do not have a possibility of direct contact with your customers, including little customers who wear the things I do. I love getting emails from my clients when they receive the order, especially when they send me photos with my items in use. But this time I was able to even hold my little customers and get their kisses and hugs. I believe I never ever was hugged and kissed by so many kids then during these two days. Can not describe you how happy it made me!!!!
And of course, as any photographer can imagine, there were crying babies too. Because the tooth hurt, sleepless night and flue, or just because do not want to leave my mommy… Now I realize that all of you guys (photographers) have your own secret tricks for these situations. But I was really touched by watching some of them in action: sneezing, сuckoo games, music, snowballs and much more. So after few minutes tears stop dropping and here comes the smile and this wonderful children’s laughter that makes you laugh too.
Some children were entering the studio in tears and after the session was over did not want to leave any more, gladly playing with the other children who came for next session. It was just unbelievable to see this mood change in front of me and I give my biggest compliments to all who does this job!!
When you look at the images you do not realize that when they are made it is not just a photographer, setting and a baby involved. One of my favorite session was with the big family who came with three children and while we were shooting all the family, including older kids, were taking pictures and making videos with their cell phones.
Can you relate?
These were magical two days and they flew away so fast, that I could not believe. I want to give a special thanks to Virginie, her family and all the families who made my staying in Behen an unforgettable experience!
